Simply Books! is the library’s book group for adults, designed for book lovers. There’s no set reading list, we don’t all read the same book, and it’s very informal. He will be dedicating a 90-minute lecture with lots of musical selections from the following legendary Broadway musicals. My Fair Lady. Lerner & Loewe's original show ran for a historic 6 years at New York's Mark Hellinger theater, with Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison. September 25 is National Voter Registration Day 2018 On September 25, 2018, Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November. The League of Women Voters will have a table in the Rotunda of the Library. Please bring your valid state ID.  With midterms and governor races happening in a few weeks, every eligible American voter should exercise his or her right to be heard at the ballot box…

What is Music-Thanatology?

What is Music-Thanatology? Midcoast musician Barbara Jean O'Brien will share the story of her journey into the study and practice of prescriptive music for end-of-life care. You will learn about the effects of acoustic vibration on bodily systems and their therapeutic application for everything from anxiety, shortness of breath and circulatory challenge to pain management, disorientation and support within non-responsive conditions. Music-Thanatology supports the dying person and his or her community of family, friends and other caregivers. Come learn more!

Butterfly Tea Potluck

By now, many of our Monarch butterflies will have emerged from their chrysalis and have started their journey to Mexico. Come celebrate all things butterfly with an afternoon tea, a short film about the Monarch butterfly, and some good things to eat! Costumes are encouraged and bring something yummy to share.
